A Doctor of Divinity (D.D. or DDiv; Latin: Doctor Divinitatis) is a person who holds a doctorate in divinity. It is regarded as an advanced doctorate degree in the United Kingdom. Doctors of divinity are placed first in “academic precedence and position” [1] at the University of Oxford, and ahead of all other doctors in the “order of seniority of graduates” at the University of Cambridge. Doctor of divinity degrees are generally honorary degrees rather than research or academic degrees in various nations, such as the United States of America.
